Learning areas
The approved early-learning approach includes stories, songs, numbers, language, movement and practical activities adapted to each child.
Stories, rhymes, songs and book play help children become familiar with sounds, words and the pleasure of reading.
Counting, sorting, matching and noticing patterns turn everyday moments into first steps with numbers and shapes.
Talking, listening, singing and storytelling build the confidence to express thoughts, needs and feelings.
Drawing, painting, music, dance and pretend play give children many ways to imagine, create and share ideas.
Movement and hands-on play can encourage coordination and mobility according to each child's abilities.
Sharing, taking turns, making friends and naming feelings help children build healthy relationships with others.
Hands-on experiences with natural materials, simple experiments and outdoor play encourage curiosity about the world.
Why play matters
The centre's early-learning plan brings together stories, songs, movement and practical activities, with space for each child to join in their own way.
Children can follow a question, handle materials and notice what happens next.
Stories, movement and make-believe open up ways to express an idea.
Time to try again lets children make discoveries at their own pace.
Shared activities give children opportunities to play alongside and learn from one another.
